Q: What is the blue “f” button on the main menu next to the account name?
Q: What is the bin?
A: IThe bin is the 5x5 grid at the top of the screen. This is where you place gems in order to make connections.
Q: How do I put gems into the bin?
A: When a gem is caught on the paddle, tap the paddle and the gem will go up into the bin.
Q: How many gems can I store on the paddle?
A: Five gems can be held on the paddle.
Q: How do I get rid of unwanted gems?
A: You can either place them into the bin or swipe down on the paddle to toss the gem back onto the conveyor belt. You can also let the gem drop off of the conveyor belt into the pit below, but this will deduct a point from your drop meter.
Q: What do the green dots represent underneath the paddle in game?
A: These dots represent how many gems you are allowed to drop before you lose a life (also known as the drop meter).
Q: How do I replenish the drop meter?
A: Every 5 levels your drop meter will reset to 5 drops.
Q: How are connections scored?
A: When 3 or more of the same color gem touch it counts as a connection. The more gems in a single connection the higher the score.
Q: What causes a multiplier to trigger?
A: If two or more different connections happen at the same time it counts as a combo and awards you a multiplier. You can also get a multiplier if one connection causes another connection to occur.
Q: How many different gems are there in Star*Burst?
A: There are 10 colored gems. They are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet, Pink, Light Blue, Grey and Dark Green. There are also 3 special gems which are the Wild Gem, Exploding Gem and Timer Gem. The Wild Gem flashes various colors, the Exploding Gem has a red bomb icon on it, and the Timer Gem has a teal clock on it.
Q: What does the Wild Gem do?
A: The Wild Gem counts as any color when put into a connection. For example, if the Wild Gem is placed between two red gems, the Wild Gem will act as a third red gem to create a connection. The Wild Gem can also be used to create multiple connections simultaneously.
Q: What does the Exploding Gem do?
A: The Exploding Gem destroys any gems it makes contact with vertically and horizontally. This is very helpful when you need to clear out misplaced gems in the bin.
Q: What does the Timer Gem do?
A: The Timer Gem acts as a placeholder. When placed in the bin, the Timer Gem will occupy a space for 5 seconds before it disappears. This is most helpful when you need to quickly make a connection without placing a gem in the bin that you don’t want to have to work around later.
Q: How do I make a Super Star Combo?
A: Set up a pattern in the bin which consists of one vertical, 4 diagonals and 2 horizontals. Put a wild gem in the middle to set off this combo.
Q: How do I make a Super Nova Combo?
A: This is the most difficult combo in the game. The bin set up is similar to the Super Star, though you will need to quickly place the Wild Gem and two gems of the same color in the middle. If you are too slow you will only get the Super Star Combo.
Q: How many levels are in Star*Burst?
A: There are 100 levels in Star*Burst. Think you can beat them all?
Q: How do I warp past levels?
A: After every 5 levels you have the option to skip ahead to higher levels. In addition, there is a secret warp on levels 6 and 11. If you make a Big X combo or higher you will warp 45 levels ahead.
Q: What is the Name Entry for?
A: The name entry associates your name with a save file which will keep track of your scores and achievements you make on the device.
Q: How do I change accounts?
A: On the main menu, tap the name of the user you are currently logged in under. This will take you to the Select Player screen where you can tap a different account name to change your player.
Q: How many accounts can I have on a device?
A: You can have up to three names on a device at a time.
Q: How do I add a new account?
A: On the Select Player screen, tap “Create New” on an available user slot. Enter in the new user name and then select the account to use the new player. Note: If you do not see “Create New” on an any of the 3 available user slots, you will need to delete an existing account in order to create a new account (see “How do I remove a Name” below).
Q: How do I remove an account?
A: On the Select Player screen, tap the delete control button (appears as a red negative symbol to the left on the account names) and then tap the Delete button. This will remove the account from the device and erase all the achievements that were earned. However, high scores that were achieved with a deleted account will remain.
Q: What is the blue “f” button on the main menu next to the account name?
A: This button will activate a screen where you can log in to your Facebook account. Doing so will grant Star*Burst permission to post achievements to your wall. See “How do I log into Facebook within Star*Burst” below for more information.
